On your way to meet his Iditarod dog team, you will stop at the checkpoint tent and see the gear that is needed and used for long-distance races. The sled dogs and puppies are eager to meet you! Next, you will meet the team and watch the musher hook them up to a sled for a demonstration run. They will exhibit their discipline and enthusiasm with a fast run around the track. Afterwards, you are invited to interact with the dogs and hold the puppies. Next experience the cold of the north with the 40 Below Experience. Layer up and enter the cold chamber where you will see and feel the effects of the extreme cold while seated on the ice throne. Join an unforgettable journey aboard the world-famous narrow gauge White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad along the eastern side of the White Pass to the 2,865-foot summit. This iron trail was built over 100 years ago through some of the North's most rugged terrain. Board a vintage rail car and retrace the original route beyond the summit of White Pass to Fraser, British Columbia. Upon reaching Fraser, board a motor coach for a journey down the west side of the White Pass canyon.
Listen while your driver/guide regales you with stories of the stampeders who trekked through the pass in search of gold. See picturesque points such as Tormented Valley and Pitchfork Falls where you will be able to look back across the valley to the train tracks from which you just traveled.
